Greek U
My name is Naveed and this blog is a collection of my experiences and thoughts on greek life, and how we can make the experience even better!!
no matter the letters…
This is a tumblr account.: SigEp.
It’s 10AM and I’ve been up since 5AM.
I don’t know what the fuck I’d be without SigEp. I’ve gained leadership, compassion, and made myself a more balanced person through them. Volunteering for the American Diabetes Association today with all my brothers really goes to show that you can join any…
SigEp Maryland Beta rush starts this Saturday!!
I love serenades hahaha
Rush!!
It’s all coming so soon!!
School starts next Wednesday, and we’ll be having our annual luau, inviting the Maryland community down to our house for some good food and a great time.
Along with the standard rush process, we also have our Balanced Man Scholarship competition starting soon. I’m lucky to be a part of the organizing process now after being a finalist for the award last year as a freshman. The scholarship really allows us to meet the best and brightest men of the new freshmen class, so I’m pumped!!
Rush has already started for many of you guys around the country. I want to wish you the best of luck as you look for the best men/women to join your organizations.
Let’s strengthen our greek community even more this semester!!
Bourbon & Boatshoes: Back home from Phoenix...
I’m back home from attending the 2011 Sigma Phi Epsilon Conclave in Phoenix, AZ! It was an amazing experience and one hell of a party. From voting on the future of our fraternity, to meeting and partying with brothers from across America, to seeing Muhammad Ali open our awards ceremony, to talking…
I am a part of something big, something great. I am a part of the great American College Fraternity. I am young, but I am smart, strong and passionate about what I do. I care deeply about the people around me and focus on my future. I’m balanced in mind and my body. I believe in Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love.
I’m a Sigma Phi Epsilon, and I am a balanced man.

Conclave
SigEp is holding its national Conclave this week in Phoenix. Many national fraternities hold conferences like this every once in a while. Our Conclave is held once every two years.
At Conclave, the national fraternity votes on new laws, elects new executive members and gives out chapter awards, among other things. One of the coveted awards is the Buchanan Cup, given to the best SigEp chapters in each region. Maryland Beta has won its fair share of Buch Cups, and hopefully we will add another at this Conclave!!
Sadly I will not be able to attend. A handful of brothers from my chapter will be going, though, so I will be sure to discuss it with them when we go back to school.
I hope to attend the next Conclave, following my junior year. I hear it might be in Orlando, which should be a lot of fun.
To my brothers from all around the country who are attending, have a safe trip and have fun!! Let Conclave be a learning experience for you and your chapter.

Naveed
A Series of Brief Affairs: Why Greek Life Prepares People for the Real World Pt. 1
Up until this last semester when I officially took my Alumna status, I was an active member in a sorority. Because of all sorts of fascist contracts, I will not disclose which one, but it is a historically white, Midwestern chapter. “Traditionally white” sounds racist, but it’s a common…
